TIE
The Foreigner Identity Card (TIE) is a mandatory document for non-EU nationals authorized to reside in Spain for more than six months. It serves as proof of legal residency and includes personal details, a photograph, and the Foreigner Identity Number (NIE). Applicants must schedule an appointment with the Spanish gov. office to provide necessary documentation and fingerprints.
Padrón
The Padrón is Spain’s official register of residents. Registration, known as empadronamiento, is mandatory for anyone residing in Spain for more than six months. To register, visit your local town hall (ayuntamiento) with necessary documentation. Requirements can vary, so it’s advisable to check with your local ayuntamiento for specific details.
Pareja de Hecho
A pareja de hecho is a legally recognized partnership in Spain for couples who live together in a stable, continuous relationship without marrying. Requirements and benefits vary by autonomous community but generally include rights related to inheritance, social benefits, and taxation.
